Gleaming trucks galore at 2015 Mondello Truck Show in association with Calor Gas
While the Mondello Truck Show is unique in many ways by providing action on the track though truck racing and other entertaining activities, the static competitions are also a big attraction.
Here lines and lines of shiny trucks of all shapes, sizes and ages are placed all round the National Circuit of the County Kildare motor racing track, proudly displayed by their owners or drivers.
For the 2015 event which will be sponsored by Calor Gas and held over the weekend of 5/6 September next, a number of additional categories have been added to the programme. “In total there are now 18 categories ranging from Top Truck to the Mondello Park Truck Show Special Award. Category T03 is for the Best 2014 Registered truck while T04 is for the Best Recovery Unit. There are two classes for Best Livery, one for the truck on its own with the other for the truck and trailer combination,” explained Roddy Green, General Manager, Mondello Park.
Noting the increasing interest in trucks from yesteryear, there are two categories for different age profiles, Best Classic Truck – post 1990 and Best Vintage Truck – pre 1990. “Another new class is for the Best Trailer, and another for Best Light Commercial which will cover a wider audience from the road transport sector,” added Roddy. “In most cases, there will be first, second and third prizes allocated and all entrants will receive a Mondello Truck Show 2015 rosette.”
Truck Racing – Once again the British Racing Trucks, will compete in a number of demonstration races on both days of the Show. These 1,100hp monsters are not to be missed as they struggle to put all that power down on the technical Mondello Park circuit.

Stop & Go Competition – Further on-track entertainment will be provided by the Stop & Go Competitors, where exhibitors in their tractor-units can drag race each other down the straight, where they then have to stop suddenly within a stop box. The knock-out competition will see the 2015 Irish Champion crowned.
Courier Race – The accolade of Ireland’s quickest van driver will be awarded to the winner of ‘Ireland’s Fastest Courier’ competition, which sees courier companies go head-to-head on the Mondello Park track where they must collect, load, unload and deliver their parcels faster than the opposition.
Commercial Vehicles Displays – In the centre Paddock and out on to the Mondello Park International loop, there will be a wide variety of exhibits from truck, trailer and van brands.
Convoy! – The Mondello Truck Show concludes as usual on Sunday afternoon with the legendary ‘Ireland’s biggest convoy’ which is open to all show exhibitors.
Entries remain open for all these competitions and interested parties are invited to contact Mondello Park at 045 860200 – email: email@example.com web: www.mondellopark.ie
